Ava Homa's Reading and Workshop at the Minden

Stop by the Minden Hills Cultural Centre during Minden's Canada Day Celebrations.  The Cultural Centre will have members of the Ontario Wood Carvers Association putting on a show and demonstrations, including soap carving workshops for kids.  The Minden Hills Museum, R.D. Lawrence Place and the Agnes Jamieson Gallery will all be open for the day and a petting zoo will be on the museum grounds.  Lots of activities for the entire family!

Members of HHWEN will be having a book sale in the Cultural Centre Common Room as well as having various authors reading from their books.
Playing with Words 2:00pm -4:00pm      Admission: FREE
2:00pm- "Tools and Fluids: a history of writting"
Celebrated illuminator and historian Judith Bainbridge will entertain, enlighten, and shine light on the incredible history of the written text and script.  From writing on skins, to modern fonts, you will never look at the written word the same!
Writing with Words 4:00pm  6:00pm     Admission: FREE  
Join celebrated internationally acclaimed writers Ava Homa, Dorris Heffron, and Drew Hayden Taylor as they read from their heart-wrenching, suspence filled, and comedically poignant works.

Performing With Words 7:30pm - 10:00pm     Admission: $15/person
Hosted by Gemini Award winning writer/performer Brigitte Gall.
In the spirit of performance, sit at this 'banquette of words' as comics, performers, singer/songwriters, poets, and authors entertain, and captivate.  Wine, beer and sustenance will be served.  Tickets are available at the Minden Hills Cultural Centre.
